Frustration beyond the breaking point!

Topic 1:  The stupid ridiculous moronic idiotic election...

I have to say that all I have wanted to do the last two days is explode all over Facebook and take on the few vocal "liberal" friends that have posted remarks.  But I just can't.  I don't have the energy to fight a fight that should not even be fought.  The economy sucks, the President's policies have failed he had nothing to run on but hate and division and they don't see it.  They are totally blinded by what I have no idea.  Common sense is dead.  They live in an alternate reality.  Use as many facts in your arguments as you want and you get...Bush Bush Bush Bush's fault.  I realize as believers we know that things will continue to get worse as time goes along but half the country lost its mind in less than 4 years time.  The same situation existed only 32 years ago and the American people threw out the trash and swept Ronald Reagan into office on the strength of 44 states, 489 electoral votes and nearly a 10% advantage in the popular vote handing Jimmy Carter arguably the worst defeat for any incumbent President in our nations history (other than maybe 1912 but having a former President run against you might hurt your chances, especially if the President was Teddy Roosevelt).  The cliff is coming and the liberals are pushing us full speed ahead.  I only wish that Alan West or someone like him was speaker of the house because I don't hold out much hope that Boehner will have the backbone to dig in and fight tooth and nail against the Marxist Democrats.

Topic 2:  Paulbots crawl back under your rocks already.

As sick and tired as I am of the disrespectful, vulgar, children that inhabit the Democrat party now, I am more tired of the Paulbots.  On the surface there seems to be hope for them because they do believe some of what we conservatives believe but then they go off the rails.  I am tired of reading things lecturing us about being held accountable by God for who we vote for.  Our votes are not pure enough.  We need to vote for someone that believes everything we believe or God will be angry with us.  If that was not bad enough don't dare try to discuss the difference between voting for someone that is better than Obama and actually had a chance to win.  That means nothing to the drones on the far extreme on the libertarian train.  After Mitt Romney won the nomination there were 3 choices.  Vote for the most socialist progressive President we have ever had who's history is like the Bermuda triangle.  Or vote for a third party with no chance of winning in effect making it more likely that Obama wins.  Or vote for Mitt Romney.  Was Mitt my choice?  Heck no.  But I had no hesitation voting for him over Obama.  That may not be "pure" enough but to all the Paulbots you can blow it out your ear hole.

Topic 3:  Abraham Lincoln.

With the new movie coming out soon and mainly because of Kenny's message to me I thought I'd touch on this one.  Maybe it is because I am cranky tonight and saying "blow it out your ear hole" made me feel better before, but right now I could give a rats patoo about the "myth" of Abraham Lincoln.  He was just a man, a sinner like the rest of us.  Was he a racist?  Was he about big government and taking away our rights?  Who the heck cares.  He has been dead 147 years.  Our country needs heroes.  So instead of tearing down a man that all of us have grown up to look at with respect and honor let sleeping dogs lie.  Lincoln will always be remembered for freeing the slaves and saving the Union.  Has history erased some of the bad about him?  I wouldn't doubt it but I have a feeling being assassinated tends to soften the critique of a former President.  No one talks much about the fact that JFK basically did nothing when the Berlin wall went up and after the Bay of Pigs fiasco the Russians thought he was a weak kneed amateur and that lead to the Cuban Missile Crisis.  The left idolizes LBJ, FDR and Woodrow Wilson, give me Lincoln any day of the week and twice on Sundays compared to any of those racist, commie, pinkos.

Thanks to Peter for suggesting the name and idea for this page and to Kenny for passing it along.

  1. I love it Mike! Now I can rant to you, with you, with you and Kenny and whoever else comes along.

    As to your posting...

I'm still swinging between anger and depression. Now what? I think it was Glenn Beck that noted we just voted for physician assisted suicide, literally and figuratively. My thoughts are seem to bounce around like a super ball in a concrete mixer. Obamacare, Gun control, Inflation, Iran, economy, Obama's war on the Catholic church... i talked to lady from England on the night of the election who said, "we didn't think he'd be this bad" GAAAH! Even the Euros are saying he's a failure!

To you second point I must say I too am sick of the hypocrisy the Paulbots and the Neo-Libs show toward us. Erick Erickson from Redstate.com was filling in for Neil Boortz a few months ago and gave such an amazing argument on how so many Americans are making their political leaders their idols. How no one is as good enough to be our leader as Ron Paul or maybe Gary Johnson. When Ron Paul stood and said that if he (or his kind of people) had been in the White House not only would Osama Bin Laden be alive but so would the 3'000+ people from 9/11. I wanted to scream! Do you have no understanding of what a Muslim extremist teach? They don't care who is running the country but they do prefer weaker leadership to make it easier for them. Such ignorance and yet they call us the "sheeple".

Abe Lincoln... was like Frodo.... he started innocently enough, carrying a terrible burden but, by the end it consumed him, till only his shadow remained.

One of my favorite youtube channels is called Zombietactics. It's put on by a gentleman from Cali who tries to examine serious issues in a lighter perspective with "zombies" being a metaphor for bad people. Every now and than he posts a video that is largely philosophical. (and of course I am hooked) He made one this past summer call, Destroy All Heros. In it he examined the cultural war on our countries heros. Last decade it was Thomas Jefferson, "he slept with slaves". Abe Lincoln is now a racist power monger. What will George Washington be? I don't know, I do recall seeing some video where someone was making the case that the founding fathers were the terrorists of their day... After all they did turn on their own government. You're so right about needing heros, both living and remembered. I don't think we are in the end times (although certainly the ground work is being laid) I don't think we even live in exceptional times. I think we are living in what most of the rest of the world has had since the dawn of time. We live in times of turmoil and conflict and with such times come great heros. I just wish had one now.

    1. The analogy to Frodo is excellent. They are taking our heroes away. No one is perfect and the deeper you dig into someones past the more junk you are going to find.

  2. On a side note, it was really my mother who I lamented to about how much I wish sometimes I could still sit in that green chair and talk about the issues of life, suggest a blog. And said it should be called "Geezers Chair". I'm glad everyone else thought it was a good idea too!

  3. Renee loves this idea too because she is the one that always takes the brunt of my rants. She does a great job listening but I know it is not always her cup of tea.

  4. And that, my friends, is why I voted for Tony Stark for president!

Thank you for clarifying the whole “chair” name Peter, all I kept thinking about was Clint Eastwood.

Renee is a VERY patient woman and while I can see her reclining quietly across the room on the couch listening to your ranting each evening, I can also imagine her sleeping very soundly tonight with rested ears :)

    FRODO!!!...stupid hobitses…

Now to the issues at hand:

    1. To be honest, I’ve pretty much written off our country (or more specifically our Constitution) for the future. Now before you label me a “fatalist,” let me explain. For many years now, conservative Christians have said that our nation is moving farther and farther away from obedience to God and acknowledging His true leadership. Many have even said that we cannot be called a “Christian” nation anymore. With Congressmen/women refusing to say the pledge of allegiance until the words “under God” are removed…I’m sorry, but I’ve lost hope our leadership and our country for allowing such disgraces to be elected into office.

Mike, I think we’ve talked about this before and Colin Smith was the first one to plant a seed of this thought in my mind…it was Baptist Christians, if I remember correctly, that introduced and pursued the separation of church and state. Somehow over the years, it’s gotten twisted and warped and doesn’t mean what it used to (at least to those on the other side of the aisle). I struggle on Sundays like this upcoming Sunday (Veterans day) and Memorial Day and the 4th of July. Those are state holidays, not religious holidays. I come to church to fellowship with believers and center my focus on worshipping God, learning from His Word, praying, and encouraging one another…not to praise a human or a country…and especially not one has turned its back on God. Let me be quick to say that that does NOT mean I have no respect or appreciation for those who have served to protect our freedoms…that couldn’t be farther from the truth! I have two cousins in the Marines and MANY other friends and family who have or are serving our country. My problem comes when we forget that last part…they’re serving our country…not our God, our Lord, our King! We have 52 days a year set aside for giving praise to our Lord, that’s 1/7 of our year and only for a few hours on those days. Can we not set a specific time on another day with a special event or service to invite in the community, open the doors and show them that we give respect and honor to the ones who have defended those doors!
I’m fed-up with this country. We want “God BLESS America” but we don’t want “one nation UNDER GOD!” 150 years ago, I wouldn’t have had this problem. No, the people of this nation weren’t perfect, but there was a respect for God that came first not just at church. The government and our leaders feared God and prayed every day. The men honored in respected were men of God, not the selfish pinheads we have in Washington D.C. and half the people across this beautiful land today. (to be continued...)

  5. The 200 year democracy cycle is finishing its time in America. America will still exist, but it will not be the Republic we were originally given and entrusted to keep and protect. The time for believers to work out their faith with fear and trembling is upon us. We can’t live in the 50’s where our faith and our political stance easily stood side by side. We must decide what is more important to us and stand our ground there. That isn’t to say we can’t talk or be involved in politics. That runs through my veins. My grandfather was a politician and a soldier, but his first allegiance was to the King. It’s times like these that drive me to his grave-side weeping, longing to have just one more conversation with him, seeking his wisdom and charge. Not a perfect man by any means, but he had one heck of a golf swing!

Guys, I don’t want to sound negative and anti-America. I’m not! I’m pro-America, but not the one we’re living in today. I’m pro-American values and principles, given to us by our founding fathers, as imperfect as they man have been. They ARE our nation’s heroes! They are the ones that stood firm in the face of opposition, and went to their homes and tents and wept to God in fear and asked HIM for wisdom and direction! Yes, they made mistakes and yes, history has erased some of them for one reason or another. But we can look to people like Noah, Abraham, Moses, David, Jonah, Paul, and so on and how often do we forget about all their mistakes. We look to the mistakes of our heroes (both Biblical and nationally) and we say, “hey, he’s not perfect, I can relate with that! God can still use me! Great things can still happen!” When America falls and those ideals are lost in this land, they WILL arise somewhere else. Evil cannot prevail over what is good and free forever! If God is kicked out of this land, but welcomed in another. And freedom and liberty proclaimed and clung to in that land, will we sing its praise? NO! We will sing praise to the One who has prevailed and made it so, knowing that all that has been fought for here has not been in vain and has inspired others to continue and win on another front! Do we give up here? NO! We simply become more tactful in how we fight and remember to bow our knees and ask the Lord for wisdom each day!

What does the battle look like for the next four years, let’s not worry about tomorrow, it’s going to be troublesome enough when we get there. Let us purpose each day to live for the King, to do our civil duties, and as much as depends on us, to live peaceably with all men (and women). Let us lift up justice but show mercy that the love of Christ would be seen all around.

    (to be continued...)

  6. Ok, enough of that. I’m with ya Pete, the ranting is great and Mike, it is GREAT to be able to have it all out here so I can sleep better tonight…now my “super ball in a concrete mixer” brain won’t be spinning around all night…this is the new “no-spin” zone LOL

I know what I said walks on a VERY thin line and might have crossed over a few times. But I’m so pissed off right now I don’t know how much I care lol We’re not one nation under God anymore…it’s hard to pledge allegiance to something that has no respect or acknowledgement of Him anymore. Ok, I’m done, have a great night :)

    Oh yeah…

    1. I understand your feelings completely. Obamacare is going to cripple this country and we can't stop it now. The only hope we have is if the Congressional Republicans dig in for an all out war to stop Obama's remaining agenda. Things are going to get worse and maybe more people will wake up by then and we can take back the Senate. Who knows maybe by then Obama will be impeached because of the total corruption that permeates his administration.

    2. Boehner and the other conservatives are going to be forced into surrendering to the Obama plan. He'll make them, or put the FULL blame on Republicans for ANYTHING that goes wrong in the world (nothing new...but he'll make sure the crap dog media backs him up, like CBS already has). It's AMAZING how many people i'm seeing on facebook say that we need to adopt more moderate values...CHRISTIANS SAYING THIS!!! I'm supposed to be OK with abortion, gay marriage, and so on?!?! Lest anyone forget...the reason i didn't vote for Obama and the reason why i'm not a democrat is because i CANNOT and WILL NOT abandon my beliefs in the sanctity of life upon conception, the Biblical mandate (not government mandate) that marriage is between one man and one woman for life, that God blesses those who befriend and protect His chosen people, and that blessed is the nation who's God is the Lord! THAT my friends is why I will never move to more "moderate values"...get used to it! Obamacare will be upheld, the taxes will be raised on everyone, we will head further back into this recession/depression...it is what it is. I'm not "freaking out" as some have said...it's reality people. God is still God through it all, we'll survive, and if we don't...then we won't have to deal with all this BS (pardon my French) any more. I'm thankful for the King who has it all sorted out! We can ride it out and still be ok...death to the constitution doesn't mean our death necessarily. Although, i was reminded today of how sad it is that we have men and women who took an oath to defend the law of the land, the Constitution, and who are dying in vain to protect it. When our politicians choose to surpass, undermine, and abandon that document, it disgraces all those who have died in order that it might live! That's my thoughts for now :)

  7. I usually enjoy listening to Mike rant, but oftentimes ranting to just me is not enough. He stews about it and rants about the same thing several time. Now I'm likely to only hear each rant once. So enjoy your time together. Pete, you have no idea how many times I wish you and Kenny and Bill would come in and listen to Mike rant and rant back at him so he can get it all out of his system.

  8. As the ball bounces in the mixer:

Over the past year I have been reading little bits of On Liberty by John Stuart Mill (I HIGHLY recommend it) and I keep thinking of what C. S. Lewis wrote in Mere Christianity, (to paraphrase)that man must be as free as possible, because we believe that our souls are eternal and that we will carry the choices of this life with us forever. ("What we do in life echos in eternity.") Therefore if man is not free to follow the will of God we are cheating ourselves from the blessings of eternity. To serve God we must be as free as is humanly possible. That brings me to another conclusion that Liberty and Freedom are not the same thing. Liberty is freedom but freedom is not liberty as liberty is more of an open ended idea and freedom almost immediately implies a boundary line. This seems to me to be an underlying theme (albeit sometimes subtle) in many of our Founding Fathers writings, without freedom you are bound from serving God to the fullest... A man can not serve two masters... I seriously have had this pressing weight on my soul for the last six months... at what point do you say "no, this government is evil" or do you just play the "render unto ceaser" and "submit to the authorities placed over you"? And yet in Proverbs we are told to stand up for those who can not stand up for themselves. The unborn, the sick, the elderly who will now be sent home to die because it's not cost effective for the govt. to keep them alive. I realize that I have moved over many points but I feel like they all try back to the one main issue. Without liberty you cannot serve God to your fullest potential. Where is the line in the sand?

    1. I don't think there is just one line...but many lines and each of us must discover our own line for ourselves...hmmm :)

JK...kind of...this is why we need to keep ourselves educated. We need to be versed in every subject possible so we can know where the ethical and moral lines are to be drawn. No, it's not possible to know everything about everything, but it is possible to know something about most things. I don't know how to play an instrument, but i know a little bit about reading music and how the instruments are supposed to be played and the different genres of music and musical instruments and some of the types within those genres and so on. That way I can have a respectable conversation with someone who is passionate about instruments/music. Dr. Kauffman comes to mind when i talk about this kind of person...i'm pretty sure he could talk about anything in the universe and know something about it lol

Politics is no exception. Too many Christians refuse to get involved saying that it divides and gets to complicated and then try throwing some "holy justification" that we should be more concerned about their souls than their political association. True...but don't be ignorant of the world around you! Politics is a HUGE issue! Go ahead, stick your head in the sand and pop out just in time to vote and then give a dumbfounded look when you discover your beloved "Christian" nation and all its conservative Biblical values have been washed down the drain!

Where do we draw the line? That's a tough answer. New Testament believers didn't rebel against the Roman government by protesting or occupying or rallying. They went to prison and were sawed in pieces. Is that what lies ahead for us? I don't know. It's always possible, but i don't want to jump to that conclusion. The important thing is, what will our reaction be if that is the punishment for being a Christian? Will we rebel or protest violently? Or will we go silently as Christ did? That's tough man, and i personally struggle with that.

I'm glad for this page, so that i can still freely rant my feelings with sober-minded individuals. But I think i'm done being overly involved on facebook. It's like Beck's Arguing with Idiots...it's not going to get us anywhere. Let them have their time. We may be considered crazy now, but maybe history books will favor us well as those who opposed Hitler in Germany.
